Title: Radiators made before the Year 2000 can be up to 50% less efficient than modern models!

Radiators for many years (over a century!) have been the traditional way of heating buildings – residential and commercial – but, as with all technology, over time radiators have become more advanced and sophisticated due to improvements in manufacture.

With the constant demand for more energy efficient heating options, the development activity has resulted in radiators still being the heating emitter of choice.

The technology has changed incredibly over the past 12 years with the greatest improvement being in performance and this is the case due to the EN442 heat output performance standard and due to the improved quality of steel and paint. A key improvement has also been in the water channels.

Radiators manufactured prior to Year 2000 can be up to 50% less efficient than their more modern counterparts due to the increased surface area of newer units and improved convection fins. The more modern units also offer more energy efficiency as they heat up more quickly than older radiators.

If you’re considering a central heating change or looking to reduce your energy costs, why not give us a call and we can visit your property and provide a quotation for your review!
